BIRDS + PRIMATES

Nyungwe Forest National Park is recognized as an IBA (Important Bird Area) with approximately 310 bird species. 29 are endemic to the Albertine Rift . Among the frequently sighted species of birds in Nyungwe include Rwenzori Nightjar, White-tailed Crested Flycatcher, Kivu Ground Thrush, Dwarf Honeyguide, Greatblue and Rwenzori Turaco. This trip is considered active and guests need to be in good physical shape.

Day 1 – Arrive Kigali International Airport. Meet & Greet and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Ubumwe Grande Hotel.

Day 2 – Drive to Nyungwe National Park. Guded bird tour on the Karamba Birding Trail, 4 km|easy. Along the way, listen to the bird’s “remarkable songs”. Overnight at Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel.

Day 3 – Chimpanzee Trek. Visit D.R. Congo/Rwanda Border and drive along Lake Kivu.

Day 4 – Drive to Nyungwe National Park. Hike the Umuyove Trail to search for the angolon columbus monkey, the grey-cheeked mangabey monkey, and other primate species. Continue to Kigali International Airport.
